Experience Perfect Paint

Sometimes perfection is not perfect enough. I know that sentence doesn't make any sense, but in the case of this very rare 1966 Austin FX4 London Taxi, it does. This vehicle is nothing short of spectacular. Perfect as is. The interior is period specific: it has all of the original bells & whistles for an authentic mid century London Taxi. It even has the original advertisements for upcoming Beetles shows. The vehicle had gone through a complete restoration. But when it came to me, it was clear: percieved perfection was not perfect enough.

The paint looked spectacular to the untrained eye. It would be easy to think there wasn't anything left to do. But there was- in fact I spent over 100 hours perfecting the paint on this "finished" vehicle. Why? Texture & orange peel.

Orange peel can be the demise of a spectacular paint finish. It will make paint look "fuzzy" and "grainy." Almost like a pixelated picture. But it can still be glossy, and this is why many car show owners think their cars are perfect as is, when in reality there is still more to achieve. Removing the orange peel on a restored vehicle yields jaw dropping results not commonly expereinced by most. It is a very time consuming- and dangerous- endeavor. The goal is to remove enough texture to make the paint flat with no distortion in reflection. But, we also don't want to remove more paint than is necessary to accomplish this goal. It can be a fine line between perfection and complete disaster.  When done right there is simply no match for such a beautiful finish. But if done wrong,  you'll go backwards in your restoration process. Perfection can easily cross into a point of diminishing returns. This is why I consider our orange peel and texture paint correction service to be "the end" of what our industry is about. After such a thorough paint correction process, there is nothing left to do.

Except
ceramic coat it. Because we will always do that on every car.

Don't leave your concours worthy show car finish in the hands of body shops and detailers who think "glossy" equates perfection. Watch the video below and find out.
